"June 11, 2010: HomeGrid Forum announced that the G.hn standard for next-generation wired home networks has been approved by the United Nations International Telecommunication Union (ITU-T) during its Geneva meeting" G.hn is the common name for a home network technology standard being developed under the International Telecommunication Union (ITU-T) and promoted by the HomeGrid Forum and several other organizations. It supports networking over power lines, phone lines and coaxial cables with data rates up to 1 Gbit/s. Opportunity After approving the standard each of Intel, Alcatel, NEC, Panasonic and many others announced that they will integrate this technology in their products, which means that Starting from 2011 the G.hn will enter each house through computers, appliances, home automation and electric meters.
